A WONDERFUL WORLD

In the beautiful setting of the artists' village of Sint-Martens-Latem, in the middle of the idyllic Leie valley, there is a wonderful world full of fragrance and colour. Here, just a stone's throw from our store in Ghent, you will find the orchid nursery of the Petrens family, which has been there for over a century. The majestic, white Victorian-style greenhouses provide the perfect backdrop in which your children can shine. The fresh, cheerful shades of our spring collection are the perfect contrast for the greenhouses and seem to be directly inspired by all the flora that the flower farm has to offer. And again, everything has a story…

 

PASSING ON KNOWLEDGE

For 5 generations, since 1887, more than 1000 orchid species have been cultivated here ! There is hardly any question of a job here, but more of a passion that has been passed down through the generations. This enthusiasm can also be seen in Hendrik, the orchid hunter on duty, who travels around the world in search of the rarest and most imaginative specimens. Just like at AO76 Petrens understands that it is important to keep innovating, but in a sustainable way and consistently on Belgian soil.

AN ENDANGERED SPECIES

Expanding that knowledge is vital, because many orchids are now endangered. That is precisely why the nursery led by Hendrik wants to protect as many species as possible. With such dedication, we could just as easily include him as a member of our BeKindCrew ! Thanks to his efforts and the continuous research by him and his family, the greenhouses already count more than 1000 different species.
